Khumbu Lodge is the oldest family run lodge that is centrally located in Namche Bazar. Ever since it was established in 1975, it has become quite synonymous with the trekkers and climbers and has been successful in setting a superior standard of hospitality service in Namche. It was built by late Pasang Kami (PK) who was one of the very few Sherpa that worked with Col. Jimmy Robert, a man who actually introduced tourism in Nepal.
After the demise of PK Sherpa, his son Pemba continued his father legacy in the hospitality industry in Namche. Now Khumbu Lodge is undoubtedly one of the best lodges in Namche providing all the modern facilities in Namche and enjoy Sherpa hospitality.
Recently Khumbu Lodge extended its new wing with additional 20 rooms with attached bathroom and solar energy for hot shower. Plastic bottles have been a big challenge to Khumbu’s fragile environment causing a big pollution. But Khumbu Lodge is proud to introduce the entire plastic and glass bottle for insulation of the room. The rooms that were used by famous personalities in the likes of Jimmy Carter, Richard C. Blum, David Breashears, Um-Hong Gil, David Lee Roth have not only been named after them but have been decorated in traditional ways.
Khumbu Lodge has its own history and reputation from its past successful years that can be seen on the corridor of lodge hanging on the walls. Because of its friendly service, this lodge is very popular for free independent travelers (FIT).
