The whole Sagarmatha region lies in sub tropical area. However, due the high altitude ranging from about 3000m to more than 8000m, the climate in this area ranges between temperate to arctic condition. The climate is generally cool and wet in summer and cold and dry in winter. Lapse rate of temperature with altitude is above 60 C per km. The lower and southern parts of the region are comparatively warmer than the snow covered area of the north. Morning is generally clear even in summer and late morning temperature seems highest in Khumbu. The average temperature at Namche Bazaar is recorded as -1 c in winter and 12.1 C in July. At Syangboche -2.1c to -4.7 C temperature is recorded in January and 8.7 C to 10 C in July.
